100 things about me
This is somewhat outdated. I think I wrote it back in 2003? Oh, how life has changed since! Once of these days I'll get around to updating this. In the meantime, enjoy!

  1. I hate peas.
  2. I especially hate split pea soup. It smells like vomit.
  3. I only drank once before I went to college.
  4. I spent that night puking in the woods behind my best friend's house.
  5. I can't sleep naked.
  6. Even in the summer, I need a comfy blanket.
  7. I think it's because I'm self-conscious about my body.
  8. Even in the car, I keep a jacket over my lap. It hides my belly.
  9. I can only sleep naked after a shower. I love that feeling.
  10. I've had the same red plaid blanket since high school.
  11. I don't sleep well without it.
  12. I have a picture of Jay, passed out on my kitchen floor, wrapped in the blanket.
  13. It's one of my favorite pictures.
  14. I love taking pictures.
  15. I get frustrated with writing poetry.
  16. I feel like all art is one-dimensional, and I ache to create something that captures everything -- sight, smell, sound, emotion.
  17. I wrote my first book of poems in fourth grade.
  18. They were horrible.
  19. My teacher that year decided to put me back into Gifted and Talented because I dotted my "i"s with hearts.
  20. I believe I'm lazy.
  21. I was always happy with doing minimal work for a "B", rather than working my ass off for an "A."
  22. Now, some might call me a perfectionist.
  23. I will rewrite an entire page of stuff if there is one messy section.
  24. All my books need to be facing the same direction on the bookshelf.
  25. My closet is organized according to color. Light to dark.
  26. Each color is organized by style -- sleeveless, short sleeves, long sleeved, buttondown, buttondown sweaters.
  27. I think this is normal.
  28. I get frustrated when things don't go my way.
  29. It usually involves crying.
  30. My favorite food is my mom's orange chicken.
  31. A very close second is mashed potatoes. On biscuits.
  32. Traditions are very important to me.
  33. Every year, my mom gives us pyjamas on Christmas Eve, so we're all fresh and new for Christmas morning.
  34. I still look forward to that.
  35. I have a very hard time dealing with change.
  36. I had my heart broken, once. It took almost two years to recover.
  37. Oddly, he called two days after Jay and I got together. That's how I knew I was over it.
  38. I need a good amount of time to myself, or I turn into super-bitch.
  39. My parents called me "Sandra Heartburn" growing up, since I overreacted to everything.
  40. I believe sexuality is fluid, and should not be categorized.
  41. I left my college boyfriend for a girl.
  42. My parents called me to tell me they knew I was gay.
  43. They called on the one-year anniversary with my ex-girlfriend.
  44. She and I are still friends.
  45. I have two brothers and a sister.
  46. My brother's name is Eric.
  47. I hated my name growing up. I changed it every chance I could.
  48. In 6th grade, I insisted everyone call me Brianna.
  49. I suffer from fairly severe separation anxiety.
  50. When I was younger, I used to follow my dad out to his car at night to make sure nothing happened to him.
  51. I'm terrified of losing my parents.
  52. I'm just coming to terms with it now.
  53. I have a fear of falling. Not of heights, but of that horrible feeling of weightlessness.
  54. My mother once told me I didn't have the patience to teach.
  55. I spent years learning to prove her wrong.
  56. I taught college freshman english for two years as a grad student.
  57. It was my favorite job.
  58. I can't sing to save my life.
  59. My sister has an amazing voice.
  60. I spent most of my life incredibly jealous of her.
  61. I've had the same best friend since the 3rd grade.
  62. She's in our wedding.
  63. I was in a commercial once, for a law firm.
  64. I had to say, "After the accident, I had no idea what I was going to do."
  65. I don't think it ever aired. That's probably for the best.
  66. I was a geek in high school.
  67. I tagged along with the chess team, just wishing I was cool enough to play with them.
  68. When they did let me play, I would make my Queen rule everything, and randomly take pieces. Just cause I could.
  69. I get distracted very easily.
  70. I need eight hours of sleep, or I can't focus.
  71. I love strawberries and kiwi. Together.
  72. I'm a sucker for anything chocolate. Anything.
  73. The weirdest food I've ever eaten was tripe.
  74. That was in Italy. Florence is one of my favorite places in the world.
  75. I slept on a parking garage floor in Paris.
  76. I can recite almost every word to the movie, The Princess Bride.
  77. The theme song is our wedding song.
  78. I called myself Princess Buttercup for years.
  79. My nickname in college was "Ophie."
  80. It was short for Ophelia.
  81. I saw myself as tortured and distraught.
  82. I don't anymore.
  83. Another nickname is "Eka" -- pronounced "Ehka."
  84. It was given to me by one of my mom's ex-boyfriends.
  85. I hated him.
  86. I love the nickname.
  87. Jay calls me "Ricky."
  88. Jay and I fell in love on sight.
  89. It took us almost eight years to get together.
  90. I used to get mad when he would give me the bridal section of the paper. I thought he was screwing with me.
  91. Then he proposed, and I found out he had the ring picked out for months.
  92. I still get goosebumpy when I think about the proposal.
  93. I have a horrible memory. Jay will ask me about things he remembers, and I'll just shrug. There was a pharmacist who knew us when we met. He used to get mad because we flirted so much. He died a few years later.
  94. I 100% believe he's watching over us right now.
  95. I believe in spirits, ghosts and reincarnation.
  96. I was raised Roman Catholic. I lean more towards Buddhism and Paganism now.
  97. I believe my grandmother tried to call me and my sister once after she had died.
  98. I love overalls. And pigtails.
  99. I love doing little kid things -- drawing with chalk, playing outside.
  100. I believe the world would be a better place if we didn't lose our connection with the simplier things -- the joy of a flower, the fun of building tents out of blankets.
