when it all goes to shit, it’s good to know you can fantasize with friends. :-)

MaX: I think I could live with teaching HS, at least for a little while
eka: *hee*
eka: how much fun would it be if we taught at the same school
MaX: omg, we’d run the place!
eka: we can be the cute little teachers that the hormonal boys fall in love with
eka: but naturally we’d be oblivious to it
eka: *heh*
MaX: I’d take over the science department and have them all out playing in the woods, and you could teach Emerson and Thoreau at the same time
eka: YES!
eka: we should open our own little private school
MaX: woah :-)
eka: *tee hee*
MaX: that would be mighty!

perhaps particularly appropriate, considering the current job market:
have you ever sent in your resume, thinking, “God, I’m perfect for that job! I’ll definitely hear from them!”
and then you don’t? and weeks go by, and you still don’t?
and then you feel like, “If only I can get in the door for the interview, they’ll see I’m a perfect fit!”
and then you start thinking, “Maybe I’m not a perfect fit. Maybe I don’t have this experience, or that experience. Maybe my skills aren’t up to par for that job.”
and then you think about the “If only they’d let me in the door for the interview, then they’d see!” again. you might even throw in a “But I’m a fast learner. Just test me! Give me the chance!”
and a couple of more weeks have gone by, and still nada?
it’s really quite depressing, because you know in your heart you could do such a good job.

he’s all grown up! [sniffle]

sometimes there’s nothing like having a slim-fast bar for breakfast, only to later wolf down an entire lemon poppyseed “single serving” bundt cake. at least it was low-fat.
sometimes there’s nothing like showing up at a friend’s house, only to find out he had proposed to his awesome girlfriend that morning. Once the initial shock wore off, I started crying. Our little Rich is getting married. congrats!!!
It’s so wonderful to watch so many of my college friends so happy in love. Now, the next (scary!) step is when we all start having kids. It frightens me to think the once-party-lovin-bar-hopping-class-what’s-that? kids will soon be responsible for raising children. Insane!

girlie day at the arboretum
Posted on April 28th, 2002 @ 11:17 am

it wouldn’t be a weekend if we didn’t see su and jay ;-) . our relationship with them must be getting serious — they met my parents a couple of weeks back, and they might meet jay’s mom in a couple of weeks. *heh* anyway, we got to see jessie, too, which made me very happy. we love jessie, we just don’t see enough of her.
so while the guys were bottling their homebrews, us girls trekked out to the beautiful world of the arnold arboretum:

su, smelling the preeetty flowers

“bleeding heart” flowers. I’ve never seen these before. they rock!

chinese food is good for you.
Posted on April 27th, 2002 @ 12:00 pm

I once got a fortune cookie that read, “Chinese food is good for you.” I did. Really. :wink
Signs you’re viciously out of shape:

  1. you break a sweat. while stretching.

  2. while doing aforementioned stretch, your instructor says, “It gets tougher as we get older, eh?”

Karate class, while short, was fun this morning. I learned a couple of punches (attacks) and a couple of blocks. Next week, I get to do kicks. And oh yeah — that whole keeee-yah! thing? You really do get to shout it! It’s more of a grunt, but it’s still fun to have a legitimate excuse for making all sorts of weird noises.
I think this is going to be good for me — because I really wasn’t sure if kicking and screaming while wearing comfortable clothing (and being barefoot!) would make me feel better. As if.

pissed off
Posted on April 26th, 2002 @ 1:57 pm

So I ordered Grand Theft Auto 3 for Jay well over a week and a half ago. Dumbass me figured I’d order it from someone off of Amazon’s Z-Shops — it was about $5 less than Amazon, and the ad said it was new. Why not, right? Five bucks is five bucks.
Have I heard a damned thing from the guy who was selling it? Not a single word. Amazon’s taken my money already and dumped it into this asshole’s account. Not a “Hey, got your order” or an “It’s on the way” or even a “I’m running a bit behind, but I’ll get it to you soon. ” Nada.
He hasn’t responded to either of my emails. It should have shipped on day 2 (last Wednesday), and gotten here in 2-6 days. I should have heard from him. He should have at least responded. I think I got duped. And damn, it was an expensive dupe.
I’m about to post his email for y’all to spam him. If I don’t hear from him in the next week, I’m going to do just that.
The worst? Apparently, Amazon doesn’t get in the middle of Z-Shop disputes. How flucked up is that?
Bastards. All of them.
